My name is David Tsabar and I’m addicted to clay.
I’d always wanted to try out clay, but never found the time. Until some health scare a few years ago. People told me I should do ‘something with my hands’. Well, clay, I thought. And never looked back. I started out with an evening class here in Vancouver, BC. When I saw that it was working I joined the UBC pottery club, and then jumped at the opportunity to do cone 10 reduction and joined the Burnaby Potters’ Guild who work at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. My partner’s sabbatical then took me to Paris, where gas kilns don’t exist because of city bylaws – but cone 10 electric is king. I’ve recently taken the plunge and decided to start my own studio. Exciting. Since I’ve browsed my fair share of blogs looking for information, I thought I’d start one, post pics of new pots, test tiles, glaze recipes, hopefully some discussion, to repay a karmic debt, so to speak. Hope you can join me on my travels in the land of clay!
